The built-in WordPress gallery can do quite a nice job of showing off photos. Sure, there are loads of gallery and album plugins, but this one has some features that are hard to beat. Plus, it’s part of WordPress core (so they’ll make sure it stays up to date), your file and photo management is right there in your page, and there aren’t any plugins to deal with.

Thanks for this clear explanation. Thinking about our earlier discussion on portfolio-items (https://www.likoma.com/why-i-dont-use-custom-post-types/#comment-653770), I have this question:
In the video you are using a WP page to contain the gallery, and thereby the uploaded gallery images need to be associated with that page. Now, can you create such a gallery also in a regular post, instead of a page?
