We have some book covers and … hmm, that’s it. Let’s see what we can do.
Kiki Thorpe (kikithorpe.com) has written many books and they vary from children to young adult. She wanted to move away from being just one type of genre. We zoomed in close and pulled out some of the abstract art from a cover and built it into her brand. The full-width header pulls a cropped close-up of a cover and brings color, warmth, and depth to her site. With Canvas and the new-ish full-width header options, this is a snap–and looks great on all devices.
We dug through some Google Fonts and found some strong candidates to get her message across clearly. The All-in-One calendar plugin gets her events lined up in the sidebar in an easy-to-read fashion–as well as a full calendar page when she has lots of events going on. Of course, in Canvas, we can easily choose to have that page not have a right sidebar. We have book covers lined up on a nicely arranged books category archive. We might have gone with the portfolio option for the books to give the different genres more play in how they’re arranged. In all, it’s a clean, professional site that’s just the beginning for her as she can now blog, update new books, and communicate with her fans.
