Happy New Year!
I’m using a new newsletter feature from my new website (www.likoma.com), so could you let me know you got this email? Just a blank reply is fine, thanks.
I won’t be using this newsletter to bombard you with junk mail, so please don’t unsubscribe. I’ll try to keep it relevant to you as website clients of mine.
Server Down Wednesday Morning
Our hosting company’s server was down for a failed drive yesterday morning for something more than an hour (if you’re hosted with me). They were on top of it before I was, but I emailed them immediately anyway and they got everything back up and running ASAP. You shouldn’t have lost any emails, but they may have been delayed a few hours. Sorry for the inconvenience, but as they say on Southwest Airlines, Shift Happens.
Banks and PayPal “Phishing” Scams :: Just Say No
Some banks (Citi, Wells Fargo, Ebay, PayPal, etc.) have been hit by what are called “phishing” (phony fishing, trying to lure you into a scam) schemes. You’ll get an email that looks like a real email from e.g. Ebay asking you to “update your account settings” which means put in your login name and password. In a word, Just Say No. Don’t do anything, just delete it. 99% of companies will NEVER ask you for your account information and especially not your password. They just don’t need to know it. If you didn’t ask for an email, it’s probably junk or a scam. Be safe and ignore it.
WordPress 2.0 is Out
WordPress just came out with a big revamp of their software and there are a zillion new features and fixes that make it even better than it already is. If you’re wondering what sort of things WP can do, have a look at all of the “plug-ins” (extras) that can be set up and do amazing things on your website.
That’s all for now. I hope everyone had a wonderful new year.
Best regards,
– Bradley
