FancyBox for WordPress makes your images pop out and darkens the background to show off a larger size of your images.
When you click on an image in your WordPress site, chances are it either does nothing, goes to the full-size image (and your website is gone), or goes to an attachment page. Yeah, you might not have really wanted any of those. FancyBox for WordPress gives you options for how your images act when clicked on.
You have quite the feature set with this free plugin: change the border of the pop-out photo, the opacity of the background, the speed of the image, the way it pops out, the way it pops back in, etc. Lots of tabs, tons of options, plenty to keep you busy.
[box type=”note”]I post this today as I used 4 or 5 other fancybox (lightbox, shadowbox, thickbox, etc.) plugins and I came back to my old favorite: FancyBox. [/box]
There are even settings to show off your WP galleries–some plugins make that a separate add-on or don’t address it at all.
